BottomScanner Introduction

BottomScanner is an AddOn for World of Warcraft that allows the scanning, evaluation and even buying of auctions that meet criteria which you can configure to suit your tastes / server economy.

What it does

As it's name suggests, BottomScanner scans the bottom (or last page, containing up to the last 50 items added) of the auction house every 20 seconds on a continuous basis, fishing for bargains. When it finds an auction that matches it's configurable parameters, it will prompt you if you want to buy it out and then you can go to your mailbox to retrieve the goods and relist (or disenchant) it, and in the process earn a bunch of gold.

It comes out-of-the-box with a preset list of cross-server prices, so it's going to be reasonably inaccurate if you don't have Auctioneer loaded up with a decent set of scans. It's still useable, but it does make the odd expensive mistake.

If you have Auctioneer loaded, it will combine the two sets of data and be a heap more accurate.

If you also have Enchantrix running, it will find and buy disenchantable items.

It will also prompt you to buy vendorable items when they can be resold for more than the buyout price.

What it doesn't do

BottomScanner does not automatically buy anything. (see History section below)

BottomScanner does not auto-bid on anything.

BottomScanner does not replace a good working knowledge of what is a "good deal" on your server. It's still up to you to decide if the prompted item is worthy of buying and reselling for a profit.

BottomScanner is not a magic "easy button." It is a tool that requires some practice to use and configure to your server and personal tastes. However, when used correctly it can help you make a lot of gold.

History

This AddOn is a reincarnation of another AddOn called BottomFeeder, which was basically the same thing but operated automatically (by auto-buying the good deals it found). Blizzard informed us that the old addon operated against their designers wishes and it was voluntarily recalled.
